Fatima Atif is a 3rd generation British Pakistani illustrator whose practice primarily focuses on creating book covers for both fiction and non-fiction books.
Her illustrative work outside of creating book covers can be characterised by bold colours and fine lines with an inclination towards drawing animals. Fatima likes to pull from her South Asian heritage, especially when using patterns and textiles in her work. She primarily uses colour pencils but also enjoys printmaking and using inks, watercolours and oil pastels.
A researcher at heart, she enjoys delving into a range of topics and looking closer at how illustration and literature play a part in the sociopolitical landscape of the word particularly within the contexts of race, immigration and colonisation.
